With over 15 years of helping youth to fulfill their potential, we know that we must partner with this next generation to close the skills gap, and build a mindset of innovation, networking, risk-taking and social responsibility.
Growing youth unemployment threatens economic and political stability, and in a country like Cambodia with a huge ‘youth bulge’, this is even more of a concern. These youth are at a critical transition point, and it is time to invest in their potential. We must enable youth to become them more resilient, by giving them the opportunity to develop social impact projects that utilize their expertise, and recognize their value within society.

Learning today, Leading tomorrow. My name is Rey Vanna, a student at Van Da University, majoring in Accounting, Auditing, and Taxation. I became a student of JWOC in 2021. I am currently teaching in a community in the field of traditional dancing (Apsara dancing). I decided to go and teach those children because I saw that in the community, there was a desire to learn and know about these skills, and I also wanted the children to understand and help preserve Khmer culture. Additionally, I want to help teach more children in my community by sharing the knowledge and skills that I have learned. My goal is to create a positive learning environment where children feel inspired, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential. I want to share not only academic knowledge but also important life lessons, such as kindness, teamwork, and perseverance, that can guide them through any obstacles. We are so proud that our SP-Y3 students carried out a project at Laberk Primary School, where they helped repaint the kindergarten classroom with fresh colors, transforming it into a warm and welcoming space that supports student learning.

Our local Cambodia board members and senior staff are flying to the USA to join our US Board for an important Strategic Planning Retreat. Together, we will plan the next 3 to 5 years to make sure our programs continue to support low-income Cambodian youth in education, employment, and community engagement. We are excited to work closely with our key partners during this special time!

ភាសាអង់គ្លេសគឺជាជំនាញដ៏សំខាន់ដែលជួយឱ្យយើង ទទួលបាននៅការងារល្អ និងធ្វើឱ្យជីវិតយើងកាន់តែប្រសើរឡើង។ នៅសាលាបឋមសិក្សា ល្បើក ដែលសិស្សានុសិស្សជាច្រើន មិនបានសិស្សាភាសាអង់គ្លេសដែលជាបញ្ហា។ ដើម្បីជួយក្នុងរឿងនេះ សិស្ស អង្គការសហគមន៍យើង បានធ្វើគម្រោងមួយដើម្បីបង្ហាញថាហេតុអ្វីបានជាការរៀនភាសាអង់គ្លេសមានសារៈសំខាន់ និងដើម្បីលើកទឹកចិត្តទាំងឪពុកម្តាយ និងសិស្សឱ្យបន្តសិក្សាគាត់។
English is an important skill that helps people get better jobs and improve their lives. At Laberk Primary School, many students don’t go to English class at their public school, which is a problem. With the new age of technology, elderly individuals are being taken advantage of and scammed, often unaware of how to defend themselves against it. Therefore, JWOC scholarship students will conduct a sharing session focused on how to identify scammers and what to do if it happens to you.
